NHLers are free to go to World Championships if their seasons are done. That's no issue. There is no flip-switching for the Olympics though. Until there's an official agreement between the NHL, IIHF and the IOC, you won't see it.
Honestly at this point, I'm not sure we will even see it in the next Olympics. (Personal Opinion).
