Today is the second game in the series in St Louis between the Pirates and the Cardinals. Yesterday, the Pirates lost despite doubling the Cardinals in hits.

In the top of the first, Clarke scored from first on a combination of a Wagner single and a Shaw throwing error. Leach followed with a single to score Wagner. Leach would later leave the game with a foot injury after being thrown out advancing from first to third on a Miller single. He would be replaced by Ward Miller.

In the bottom of the third, with a runner on first, Ellis tied the game with an inside-the-park home run. Hulswitt gave the Cardinals the lead with a two-out two-run double. Hulswitt went on to score on a wild pitch. Only one of the runs was earned.

After three: St Louis 5 Pittsburgh 2.

In the top of the fifth, Wilson scored from second on a Dots Miller single combined with a Shaw error. Ward Miller scored from third when Gibson grounded to short and it was a one-run game.

In the top of the sixth, Clarke scored the tying run from first on a Wilson two-out single combined with a Shaw throwing error. It was Shaw's third error of the game. With runners at first and second and two out, Irv Higginbotham took the mound for the Cardinals and got the final out of the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Konetchy put the Cardinals back in the lead with a two-out RBI single. Shaw followed with his own RBI single. With runners at first and second and two out, Lefty Leifield took the mound for the Pirates and got out of the inning.

After six: St Louis 7 Pittsburgh 5.

In the top of the seventh, an RBI triple by Abstein made it a one-run game.

In the bottom of the seventh, Chick Brandon took the mound for the Pirates.

In the top of the eighth, Dots Miller brought the tying run home with a two-out infield single. Gibson followed with an RBI single to give the Pirates the lead.

In the bottom of the eighth, Shaw tied the game with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the ninth, Deacon Phillippe took the mound for the Pirates. With the winning run at second and two out, Evans doubled to end the game.

The two teams combined for 31 hits and 7 errors.

Final score: St Louis 9 Pittsburgh 8.
