Annandale is playing for pride though, as Saint Paul has already clinched the division. I'm hanging in there, only 37 games back though! We do lead the WC race though, and are one of only 2 American League non-division leaders playing over .500 ball!

I was looking at the Promotion/Relegation standings for the Iron league and noticed that all the top teams were playing under their Pythagorean predicted win totals. After thinking about it a bit, I guess it's because we have 5 teams playing .700 ball, and since they face each other a fair bit (and since SOMEONE has to lose those games!) they are losing more than you'd think from just looking at the numbers.

Good News re: Auction House

In Auction House news, the offering of Historical Packs has had a massive positive effect on historical AH supply. I've never bought one of those packs (if I had 10k PP I'd buy a player) but there are obviously a lot of people who *are* buying, because the AH is now chock-full of historic players. And that's great for us. I've seen many players that I've never run into before on the AH.

Over the last 24 hours prices have also fallen a bit on good cards - prices appear to be holding steady on what I'd call the "marquee" cards - maybe coming down a little. Prices for good golds have softened a lot in the past 24 hours and I'm hopeful this will continue due to the influx of more usable historical cards.

Weird Pricing

There still seems to be some weirdness in pricing of some well-known players... not all, but some. And the extra supply hasn't affected prices for these guys (yet?). Maybe it's the familiarity factor - the prices of certain cards really seem out of whack to me. Three examples: 86 Rod Carew, which is offered at 9k PP, 82 Don Mattingly, which goes for 17k, and the 83 Pete Rose, which is around 9.5k.

Don't get me wrong - if I received any of those cards in a pack, I would play them (well... I would probably sell the Mattingly!). These are good cards (and in fact the Rose card is one that is particularly wanted for Brigadoon). But according to my card evaluations, none of these cards is really worth it. There are always plenty of first basemen who can hit, so Mattingly seems way overpriced (and I do realize he's an important card in a mission but even so, the card seems priced at at least double what I'd pay for it). The Carew card is good hit but only average field, and seems about 30% overpriced to me. And the Rose card -good hit, above average corner OF player - seems overpriced by about 2k to me. Part of the price is in the novelty factor - well-known players who haven't been seen on the AH a lot (although actually Mattingly and Rose cards have been showing up in droves!). So I can only hope that with more supply the price of the Rose card will fall so Brigadoon can someday buy one!

Missions

Oh yeah, had to edit my post because I forgot one of my main points: I usually keep an eye out for missions to complete, but with the recent influx of historical players to the AH, it seems I'm putting missions on the back burner, at least for a short while. It's interesting in that a couple of weeks ago all I was doing was looking at missions. Now all I'm doing is looking at the AH!

The Negro Card Collection just got released yesterday so I wonder if AH prices are dropping due to some guys needing to free up PP so they can be the first one to buy those way over priced Negro cards.

It was amazing what some guys with asking. I saw one card priced at 800,000 PP and one person had already bid on it!

That is crazy.
