In the top of the seventh, Bunky Stewart took the mound for the Senators. The Indians loaded the bases with nobody out. Strickland grounded into the 3-2 fielder's choice for the first out. Busby then turned a double play by catching a Glynn fly ball and then throwing Philley out at home as he tagged up and tried to score. And the Indians got nothing in the inning.
In the top of the eighth, Camillo Pascual took the mound for the Senators. Doby put the game away with a two-out three-run 410 foot homer.
Wynn went on to record the complete game shutout.
The Indians got 10 hits in the win and also drew 11 walks.
