Tonight is the second game in the series in Chicago between the Mariners and the White Sox. The Mariners have begun the season with a 10-3 record on the road.

Kansas City Royals 2B Luis Alicea will miss 9 months because of a broken kneecap.

Rumor has it the Arizona Diamondbacks have placed 1B Greg Colbrunn on the trading block.

In the bottom of the second, the White Sox loaded the bases with one out. Singleton went down on strikes for the second out. Alomar then grounded to short to end the inning without the White Sox getting on the board.

In the bottom of the fourth, Valentin broke the scoreless tie with a 372 foot solo home run.

In the top of the fifth, the Mariners loaded the bases with one out. Cameron went down on strikes for the second out. Suzuki, however, came through with a two-run double to give the Mariners the lead.

After six: Seattle 2 Chicago 1.

In the top of the seventh, Josh Fogg took the mound for the White Sox.

In the bottom of the seventh, pinch hitter Frank E Thomas tied the game with a two-out RBI single.

In the top of the eighth, the Mariners loaded the bases with one out. McLemore grounded into the 4-2 fielder's choice for the second out. Bob Howry then took the mound for the White Sox. Wilson got contact on a 1-0 pitch and turned it into a tie-breaking two-run single.

In the bottom of the eighth, Arthur Rhodes took the mound for the Mariners. Pinch hitter Herbert Perry made it a one-run game with a two-out RBI single. Alomar followed with his own RBI single to tie the game. With runners at first and second and two out, Jeff Nelson took the mound for the Mariners. A walk loaded the bases with two out. But Canseco grounded to third to end the inning.

In the top of the ninth, Keith Foulke took the mound for the White Sox.

In the bottom of the ninth, Valentin ended the game with an RBI single.

The two teams combined for 20 hits in the contest. White Sox pitchers combined to record 10 strikeouts.

Final score: Chicago 5 Seattle 4.
