The first guide (on Steam) is a good one to review for info, but it is more of a recommendation. Depending upon what type of results you're after, you might want to deviate from some of its suggested settings.
The second guide is from the the OOTP online manual. It's not so much
recommendation as it is
explanation.
Both are good reading before you set up your league.
