Keep in mind is that when I upgrade players on Annandale I want to keep an elite defense - when two players are close I will pick the better defender.

As you recall, I was considering 2 players (Players A and B). However, I looked at the auction house again and found a third contender had entered the ring. Let's call him Player C. And as it turns out, he's the guy I ended up buying, even though he was a bit more expensive than the other two. Here's an abbreviated version of my player evaluation spreadsheet for the guy I'm replacing and the 3 guys I was considering.

Player A was Dave Parker, B was Mickey Mantle, and the guy I bought was Dale Murphy. In the end I decided to skip Mantle because I'd be going from a 91 to an 83 in RF. I decided for Murphy over Parker because Murphy has a much better walk rate, and he is much better vs lefties. Their defense is essentially identical also (and maintains what I have there). Murphy could also move to LF later on as he is an overall "better" version of my SE Duke Snider who is in LF now.

As for prices, here's what they sold for in the order in which the auctions ended:
  • Parker sold for 13001 (I would have beaten that if I'd been trying for him, I probably would have gone up to 15500)
  • Mantle sold for 15999 (I would not have paid that much)
  • and I insta-purchased Murphy for 17500. Another Murphy insta-sold later for 20k (which seems high to me).

I barely had enough for the purchase so now I'm broke. See you in three weeks, Auction House!

Actually, it was very helpful and interesting. The onoly thing missing from what I do is the biggest factor of all (for me) - the heart factor.
