GM Notebook - September 1, 2028
This playoff race is going to come right down to the wire, I can tell. Kirin, Orix, and we are tied for second place, 4 games back of Rakuten. Okinawa and we do have two games in hand over Orix, so it's going to be close. We went 14-12 in August, the Buffaloes went 14-13, and the Spirit went 15-11. At least the Fighters and Hawks have played themselves out of contention.
Danny Bergeron has taken over the closer role from Morihara and done well with it. Kanakubo has returned from injury and handled himself well in our bullpen. Yasuda is only batting .195, but his OBP is .387. And of his 16 hits, 4 were HR and 7 were doubles - guy just needs to swing the bat more!
Atsunori Nishiyama played himself out of an arbitration award and the lineup - Kenjyu Kuwahara has taken over the DH role and done well. Collymore's on rehab and should be rejoining the squad soon.
