GM Notebook - September 1, 2037

Next week is gonna be big. We play Orix at our place for a 3 game set, and they're only 3.5 behind us. Then we play Lotte 3 games at their place, and they're....16.5 back. Okay, maybe just the first half of the week is big.

We had a bit of a backslide last month, going 15-11. Nishi won Pitcher of the Month and Rookie of the Month again, so glad to see he's picking up the pitching slack. I just hope he doesn't have a sophomore slump like Maeda's having.

The big ticket item for me is going to be freeing up some salary space. If Tsuchiya doesn't opt out, I'm kinda screwed; if he does, I've got Takeuchi as a backup at least. It might finally be time to say bye to Shizue Uchino, the original green man. Sidebar: find out what got into Morioka's bat, and keep it there.

Shuta Kurokawa's almost back from rehab, and having him back will slam the door in the bullpen. Only question is who moves down, Sakaguchi or Onishi. And Alex Gallardo's about to start his rehab!
