Returning for group 19. This group was heavy on Giants teams.

Top of the bracket:

One more upset.

118) 1960 Yankees over 2409) 2019 Marlins 4-2 = Bill Skowron .391 (9-23) 2-10
Best pitching duel seen in the tourney thus far in game 4: Ryne Stanek held the Yankees to only a Skowron 2nd inning single and worked 8 ⅓ scoreless (he did issue 7 walks), and Austin Brice completed the shutout. Bill Stafford scattered 3 hits and only allowed Miami to scratch out a run in the 8th.

119) 1937 Giants over 2408) 2010 Pirates 4-0 = Mel Ott .500 (6-12) 3-4
120) 1988 Mets over 2407) 1991 Indians 4-1 = Gary Carter .471 (8-17) 0-6
Cleveland’s lone win, game 2, saw Albert Belle hit a solo HR (one of 3 he hit in the series) off of Dwight Gooden for the only run of the game. Charles Nagy only allowed a 4th inning single to Lenny Dykstra.

121) 1995 Braves over 2406) 1973 Rangers 4-0 = Chipper Jones .667 (8-12) 1-7
122) 1962 Giants over 2405) 1903 Phillies 4-1 = Billy O’Dell 2-0 0.00 17 IP 11 K
123) 1908 Giants over 2404) 1943 Giants 4-0 = Christy Mathewson 2-0 0.50 18 IP 8 K no walks
2403) 1938 Browns over 124) 1951 Giants 4-3 = Billy Sullivan Jr. .379 (11-29) 4-11
Road team wins all 7 games.

Bottom of the bracket:

Higher seeds 4-2 here, with just 1 series to the max.
1141) 1985 Padres over 1386) 1946 Senators 4-1 = Steve Garvey .364 (8-22) 1 rbi
Could have given the nod to LaMarr Hoyt, who left game 1 tied after 8 (Tony Gwynn homered in the bottom of the 9th to make a walkoff winner out of Rich Gossage) and pitched a shutout in game 5. Game 2 went 14 innings, with both teams scoring in the 13th and then the Padres getting an RBI double from Garry Templeton in the 14th.

1385) 1923 Robins over 1142) 1986 Giants 4-3 = Jack Fournier .400 (10-25) 3-5
Dazzy Vance struck out 27 Giants over 16 innings, winning both of his starts.

1143) 1987 Royals over 1384) 1922 Robins 4-0 = Danny Jackson 1-0 3.00 9 IP 3 K and .600 (3-5) 1-6
Game 3 in Brooklyn: Robins lead 2-0 into the 5th. Burleigh Grimes pitching. 2 outs, George Brett and Frank White advance to 3rd and 2nd, respectively, on a wild pitch, which prompts Brooklyn to intentionally walk Angel Salazar to bring up Danny Jackson. 0-2 count - Apparently Grimes didn’t load up this spitball enough, because Jackson launched a grand slam out of Ebbets Field (417 ft to left). Willie Wilson promptly took the next offering deep to right center, chasing Grimes and allowing the bullpen to enter the game and give up 9 more runs the rest of the way to the 14-3 final. KC pitching was outstanding in the series, as Bret Saberhagen only allowed 2 runs in game 1, Charlie Leibrandt and Gene Garber combined to allow 1 unearned in game 2, and Mark Gubicza thru a 5 hit shutout in game 4.

1144) 1988 Giants over 1383) 1905 Naps 4-1 = Will Clark .524.(11-21) 2-5
Kevin Mitchell led the Giants with 4 HR and 7 RBI.

1145) 1989 Red Sox over 1382) 1916 Indians 4-2 = Ellis Burks .364 (8-22) 1-2
Tris Speaker hit .440 with 6 RBI for Cleveland.

1381) 1909 Reds over 1146) 1989 Rangers 4-2 = Dick J Egan .423 (11-26) 2-7
Rangers pitching was WILD in this series. Nolan Ryan and Kevin Brown combined for 20 walks (against 15 strikeouts) over 23 innings. The rest of the staff issued 19 more free passes.
