I was always under the impression that player fatigue varies drastically depending on position played....when I compare PA by positions over several seasons, more important defensive positions like C, SS, and CF see lower PA compared to easier positions like LF, RF, and 1B. (3B and 2B being more in the middle)
This makes sense too....positions that are more demanding (the constant squatting for catchers, the high amount of ground balls hit by righties to the SS, and the huge range of a CF) should tire a player more than a big lug at 1B just standing there catching throws, or corner outfielders with less responsibility than the CF.
