Did he perhaps retire and unretire?
Other than that I'm thinking that its an isolated data error where the erase career didn't work with him. Maybe we need to press the button twice!!!
I occasionally checked the career stats in my current league during play and don't remember anything like this. I saved backups of many of the early years. Would you like me to check them to make sure I am getting different results?
The only procedural thing I see different is I started with players on historical teams and manually assigned free agents to appropriate teams.

Oh man, you use minor leagues? I know from earlier discussions, you don't use the historical minors feature. Wondering if that might be the answer. I've never once tried erasing career stats/erasing history in a league with minor leagues.
