April 8th, 2021
We had a turbulent flight from SeaTac to Minneapolis – not sure if it was the chop or our rowdy & boisterous club celebrating our rip-roaring start the 2021 campaign for the entire 3hr and 20-minute flight…
Seattle Mariners (4-2, .667, 2nd AL West) @ Minnesota Twins (5-1, .833, 1st AL Central)
If the baseball pundits are to be trusted then Minnesota is, currently, everything those pesky White Sox aspire to be, and, so far, they’ve shown it on the field of play - 1st in runs scored, 2nd in OBP and wOBA, and 1st in HRs with a Starters ERA that ranks 3rd in the American League. They are, in a word, formidable. A good opportunity to see if we can keep the good times rolling, on the road against an expertly constructed professional baseball club.
7 of 162: Matthew Boyd (0-1, 7.50) @ Jose Berrios (1-0, 3.38)
Win, 2-0. Berrios pitched a rock-solid, 6.1 innings for Minnesota allowing our two runs early before settling in and getting to work, but, despite his best effort, we prevailed on the back of Matt Boyd’s 4, 2-hit shutout innings and Sanchez’s 2 lockdown innings in relief… Doubles for Lewis and France, a SAC FLY for Joc, and some good fortune for us as the game was called in the 7th due to inclement weather.
We’ve had 10 Grand Slams and 13 Golden Sombreros so far this year…

Khris Davis - TEX
Ian Happ - CHC
Joc Pederson - SEA (Ugh)
Franmil Reyes - CLE
Chris Taylor - LAD (In four opportunities – 2 Ks, 1 slam, 1 run-scoring single)

Up Next: We get a day off, on the road, in Minnesota. Maybe I'll look for a Replacements cover band or something...
