Walkers news: Dec. 1 -- Cincinnati lures Carmona away from St. Louis
The Cincinnati River Sharks have announced the signing of shortstop Jean Carmona to a five-year deal worth $10.9 million.
Carmona, 33, had been the starting shortstop for the St. Louis River Walkers since the 2022 season and earned six Gold Gloves during that span, including the 2031 season.
It wasn't the dollars which scared off St. Louis, as Carmona refused an offer worth much more than that from the Walkers, but the number of seasons.
With the five year contract, Carmona will be part of the Sharks roster through at least his 36-year-old season and possibly his 37-year-old campaign, if he reaches his vesting options in 2036.
