In the top of the eighth, Jim Umbricht took the mound for the Colt .45's.

In the bottom of the ninth, with the score still tied, Barney Schultz took the mound for the Cubs and retired the side in order.

In the top of the tenth, Bobby Shantz took the mound for the Colt .45's.

In the bottom of the eleventh, Don Elston took the mound for the Cubs. With a runner on second and two out, pinch hitter Billy Goodman sent the crowd home happy with a walk off double.

The Cubs committed three errors in the loss but they led to no unearned runs. Three Houston pitchers combined to record 10 strikeouts.

Final score: Houston 3 Chicago 2 11 innings.
