Finally! The Rangers will have their first game today as they face the Athletics in a doubleheader in Oakland.

In the top of the third, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Harden got Teixeira looking at a knee high fastball on a 1-2 count for the second out. Mench then flew to center to retire the side without the Rangers scoring.

In the top of the fifth, Mench again came to bat with a clutch scoring chance as runners were at second and third with two out and, this time, he delivered a two-run double to put the Rangers in the lead.

In the top of the sixth, with a runner on third and two out, Chad Bradford took the mound for the Athletics and got Young to fly to center to retire the side.

After six: Texas 2 Oakland 1.

In the top of the eighth, with a runner on first and one out, Justin Duchscherer took the mound for the Athletics and kept the deficit to one.

In the top of the ninth, Arthur Rhodes took the mound for the Athletics.

In the bottom of the ninth, Francisco Cordero took the mound for the Athletics with a one-run lead to protect. With a runner on first and two out, Hatteberg grounded to short to end the game.
