This is getting ridiculous...
Just when it seems the Rays can't sink any lower in this year's postseason, tonight happens. Jordan Wicks was channeling Don Larsen as he had a perfect game through 7 innings before Vlad Guerrero Jr. led off the 8th with a single. That would the sum total of the Rays offense tonight, which hit 307/381/522
as a team during the regular season and scored an MLB-record 1096 runs or 6.77 per game. Wicks is a good pitcher, but c'mon. Of course the tone was set in the first inning when Rays hitters hit three line drives right at Twins fielders, and then Nate Schultz continued to struggle by putting the first two men he faced on base and letting the third one take him deep for an instant 3-0 Minnesota lead. Nate Thompson will try to keep the Rays' season alive tomorrow as the only real question now is will they be swept?
