Mike Goldblatt pitched eight scoreless innings and Jared Kelley did the same in the ninth, as Cincinnati shutout St. Louis 1-0 at Riverfront Stadium (1984).
Goldblatt (7-4) scattered five hits -- all singles -- during his time on the mound. He struck out six and didn't issue a walk.
Kelley allowed a pair of hits in the ninth, but with runners at first and third got Zach Wenman to ground into a double play to register his 20th save.
Anthony Ward provided the game's lone run with a homer off River Walkers starting pitcher Shane Drogo with two outs in the bottom of the second.
St. Louis outhit the River Sharks 7-2, but still lost the game.
