That time of year again. Here's the skinny on the picks:
Emerson: A JuCo CF from California, he projects as an OK hitter but a very good defensive outfielder as well as a speedster.
Brown: Our supplemental 1st round pick is a reliever who is already rated 75 for stuff and 70 for movement, meaning he could pitch in the bigs right now. The control is iffy though at 35, with potential for either 50 (Metzler) or 60 (OSA). Look at his numbers at Notre Dame this last season:
Truly sick! The best reliever prospect I've seen in all the years of this save. Gonna start him off at AA Montgomery once signed.
Bishop: A righty from Vanderbilt who projects to have average-to-slightly above-average stuff, potential back end of the rotation guy.
Thevenot: The Ole Miss product is your prototypical scrappy 2B who projects to hit for average but not a lot of power, can steal bases.
Clark: The USC lefty is a groundball pitcher which projected good movement but fringy stuff (and perhaps fringy control). A longshot.
Treitz: High-school catcher with good contact, bat-to-ball skills.
Garton: A junior from UCF, he's a 4th/5th OF type.
