This is to be expected, as in 2020 on you will not get any new players (because the draft in 2020 loads players who debuted in 2021) because the historical db runs out at that point. You need to switch things in the settings from the historical settings to fictional settings and having the game generate fictional players if you want to continue playing a historical game beyond where the db runs out
