It's OK that they cleared waivers, no one can claim him now. If you put a player on your active roster on waivers, he's still on your active roster. When he clears waivers, you can move to him AAA (if that was the intention). He'll still be listed under 'waivers' and to be honest, I'm not sure how long he'll be listed there (if it even matters). If you waived and DFA him. he is moved from whatever roster he is on and moved to DFA (and is also listed under waivers). DFA is a roster, waivers is not.

It would still be nice to be able to manually remove them from waiver status.

They do drop off eventually but I have not worked out the trigger yet. It seems they can stay with waiver status for a few weeks.
