The answer is, we don’t know. It looks like the big thing is that the holder of the rights is extremely litigious and that apparently in Japan statistical histories are considered part of a league’s copyrighted material (which is not the case in the US and there’s now definitive case law to back that up). My guess is that the South Africa method is where they’ll be at going forward but who knows, maybe even identical stats in a fake league in a different country is too close by their standards. The devs haven’t said anything because keeping your mouth shut is SOP when you’re being threatened with a lawsuit.
