I am almost finishing up season 1.
Some observations -
1. I added all the US indie balls, KBO, CPBL, Mexican League, and Cuban leagues as template to this universe. US indie balls might break the immersion since some of the players playing in US indie ball might have retired or are still playing in MLB. I have also seen a few players (like Addison Russell) could both be playing in mexico and usa if mexican league is added
So my suggestion for those who wants to add more leagues to this universe, is to add KBO, CPBL and the Cuban league, which dont have too many active/former MLB players playing in - which can avoid the issue of two addison russell playing in the same universe.
I might create a new template with these additional leagues (and possible indie ball leagues in the US and Japan) to mimic the OOTP MLB experience which makes this universe more complete.
2. I don't know what happened in this universe but there are lots of players that have very very low avoid k but high walk rates. Very odd to find out that.
3. For some reason, some players, especially two way players (at least Shohei Ohtani) are stuck in the minors despite having great hitting tool or pitching ability. Not sure what happened there.
4. Due to having only two professional leagues in this universe, there are many Japanese players playing in the MLB or its minor league systems.
5. I would suggest to turn up trading frequency to average if playing in JPBO so more trade activities among AI teams.
6. I love the low injury setting. It saved a lot of pitchers' careers.
7. The JPBO is on another level than the modern ***. After 70 years (since 1950) of drafting and development, based on what I have seen, the talent level between MLB and JPBO is small, especially on the pitching side. Almost every JPBO team has 2-3 pitchers that can play in MLB. Hitting wise, slightly worse than MLB in this universe, but there are a lot more talent, and when they go over to MLB, they succeed. I have even seen Japanese catcher (who definitely needed to hit enough to stay in the lineup) starting in MLB. If we compare this JPBO to BPN, this JPBO has more talent, and some insane talent even. Murakami might just be a star but not a superstar if he were to play in JPBO. There are MLB superstar talent in JPBO.
8. This might be an odd discovery but Sendai drafted an American from University of Albany called Joey Edwin in the second round of 2020 JPBO draft. Might need to give him Japanese second nationality so that he would not take a foreigner slot.
9. Some save suggestions - Osaka (worst team in JPBO), Hiroshima (worst team in the Nihon league), Chiba (best hitter and pitcher combo) and Fukuoka (biggest budget). Also, in this universe, Sendai did not get Masahiro Tanaka so they are still struggling after the expansion.
10. Just noticed that player enters arbitration after 1 year in service, instead the 3 years, in real life.
