Some of it is on Chris Creamer's Sports Logos site (sportslogos.net). Some of the other stuff I took from Homefield Apparel because they have a lot of retro college gear. For the current uniforms, I would go through a school's website and check recaps from the past season to see what they wore, does the jersey have a patch, do they were NOBs, etc. For the old stuff, I went through some college yearbooks and old College World Series games on YouTube to figure out what teams wore. And a few was just plain ol' luck in Google searches, especially that Texas script.
Generally, if I can get a good enough screenshot of a wordmark, I can usually recolor it a bit to clean it up or to render in different colors with different outlines (the LSU "TIGERS" wordmark, for instance).
And eriqjaffe's Uniform Maker is a tremendous help. He's got quite a few of the common jersey NOB and number fonts already in his app, not to mention the uniform templates. I couldn't do these without his wonderful app.
