Looking at Boyett's real minor league stats, he actually looked great at 18, extremely high K rate, low hit and homer rate, walk rate high but not alarmingly so. The kind of numbers that could indicate a future ace starter.
His career was over the next year after some unimpressive numbers, and it looks like he probably threw out his arm--lots of hits combined with few strikeouts, and no other chances given. But had he not been hurt, his age-18 year could have been a foreshadow of a very solid career, and OOTP may have played that out.
