BOSI and the new version of php?

Guys, not sure how many have come across this, but i am getting a funky error now when i try to import to BOSI...

Warning: Unknown(): Your script possibly relies on a session side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3. Please be advised that the session extension does not consider global variables as a source of data, unless register_globals is enabled. You can disable this functionality and this warning by setting session.bug_compat_42 or session.bug_compat_warn to off, respectively. in Unknown on line 0

Anyone come across this, and if so were you able to fix it? Thanks.

Are you the person I helped get rid of this error already?

There are two ways to remove this error. Either place the following lines of in a file the BOSI executes for every script, such as the config file.
Code:
ini_set('session.bug_compat_42', 0);
ini_set('session.bug_compat_warn', 0);
Or if you have access to your php.ini file you can place the following at the bottom of your php.ini
Code:
session.bug_compat_42 0
session.bug_compat_warn 0
You also need to turn on register_globals because BOSI 2.0 relies on them. You can do this by either create a .htaccess file and placing it in your root BOSI directory and place this line in the file.

Code:
php_flag register_globals on
Or if you have access to your php.ini you can place this in your php.ini file.

Code:
register_globals on
But didn't you solve this problem using the above technique and now you are getting this error?

Code:
Line: 2
Char: 1
Error: 'top.HTMLFrame' is null or not an object
Code: 0
URL: http://www.asblootp.us/bosi/admin/import/league.php?GE_all=1&GL_lid=1
That is an error I have never seen before has nothing to do with upgrading PHP. It looks like a javascript error, but its not something I could solve short of getting on your server and trying to figure out exactly what is going on...which I unfortantely don't have time for atm.

Well, like I tried to explain, lots of people have run into the problem you posted and I've helped lots of people fix that problem. Its due to a simple change in PHP versions. But you other problem after we fixed those errors is something else...never seen it before.

yeah i know, you gave me the fixes, but for some reason it doesnt go through.

ive actually got it affecting 2 of my servers now, so i am really stuck.

on the 2nd server that is no affected by this, when i logged into the admin section, it started dropping the ?G_lid=1, and obviously said that i needed to pass a valid league id.

maybe if i can get past that it will work?

If its dropping ?G_lid=1 it sounds like register_globals isn't turned on correctly.

Make a simple php file with only this inside it.

Code:
<?php phpinfo();?>
Call it whatever you want, 'phpinfo.php' for example, place it in your BOSI directory and give me a link to it.

Your .htaccess file must of had a typo in it or something or possibly your host doesn't allow them. It wouldn't just make it not work like that.

Regardless, something is wrong in your php.ini, because this shows that register globals is still turned off. Search for register_globals in the phpinfo page and you'll find this.

Code:
register_globals	Off
So your php.ini changes either were incorrect or were done to the wrong file. The phpinfo pages also shows your php.ini is coming from

/usr/local/Zend/etc/php.ini

Is that the file you modified?

Unmodified BOSI 2 code relies on register globals being turned on as it was by default in PHP versions < 4.02 or so.

on this server, i do not have access to the php.ini

on the new server i got, i do have access to it. i have a league on the new server that is having this same problem, i'll put all the changes over there and even throw that phpinfo file over there for you and see what happens later today and report back.

According to that page register globals is still off, so either you didn't modify it correctly or you modified the wrong one.

i edited the php.ini file that was in the asblootp directory (i have multiple sites on the same server as add-on domains, and it puts a php.ini file in each one).

would that be the right one to edit, or is there like a master one or something?

If you look at this entry in your phpinfo page

Code:
Configuration File (php.ini) Path
It tells you which php.ini file it is using. For some reason its not using the one you edited it using one at

/usr/local/Zend/etc/php.ini

If you are on a shared server you probably can't, if your host provides the capability of custom php.ini files you'll need to talk to them and find out how to enable it, because your php isn't using the php.ini in your directory.

alright so i think i found out how to make it work since its a shared sever, i just need to copy the php.ini file to every directory that has a php file in it. so i did that, and its still not working. i believe i turned everything on like i was suppose to. i got logged into the admin section ok, but when i click something, like start new season, it says cant find players.csv, and i verified that the file was in fact in there.

any other possible ideas after looking at the phpinfo page?

That would have nothing to do with your upgrade. Are you sure you changed your configuration and double and tripled checked to make sure you have the right path to your CSV files. It simply can't find the file and you've switching around servers like crazy so I'll wager you simply have the wrong path to your import files in the configuration.

i can verify without question that the path to the import files is correct. i can also verify that all my configuration info has been triple checked, and is correct as well.
