No skill involved? Random?
Hey im kind of new to the series, started on OOTP 15.
I started a career with Cleveland Indians, simulated the entire season and won he World Series without changing a thing! Inc strategy! ![]() The problem is i have done 6 years with my team, St Louis Cardinals, micro managed it, signed best staff possible, made excellent trades, stayed within budget, successfully reached all goals i was set, finished 6 years running with the best overall record in my division and sometimes the whole MLB, dominate in player stats, always resign my best players & ive still not even got to the WORLD SERIES once! I understand the best team regular don't always get to world series, but 6 years running come on? Also changing strategy don't seem to make my record better or worse? Im in desperate need of some beginners advice? tips? help with a better strategy? anything!

Better luck :-)
I feel your pain. I've had a number of occasions where I've won my division my 20+ games, yet have been swept out of the first round! |

Baseball is a cruel mistress.
![]() The only advice I could offer is with pitching. Teams with two top tier starting pitching tend to do better in the playoffs. A strong balance staff might get you the best record in the regular season, but once the playoffs begin, your pitching rotation shrinks. Don't worry about your 4 and 5 slot pitchers, or maybe even your 3rd, concentrate on your top two starting pitchers. That way when you STILL fail to get to the World Series you can blame me.

My advice would be to stop running the Cardinals and take over the Indians

It happens. Look at the 90's-2000's Braves irl.

It happens. I have a four team fictional league going where I test settings and my team has finished the regular season 40 games over second place. Yet I can't seem to get them to win the championship. The year I finished 4th 15 games back I won it all.

Actually "random" is not a bad answer.
![]() Baseball's regular season is a marathon in which teams try to do just a little better than everyone else over a large number of games. Even teams with very good records lose a certain number of series during the season. In the playoffs, you can't lose a series and move on. It's much more unforgiving. Luck plays a much bigger role. |
