Remove from Active Roster

This must be a simple thing but I don't get it.

When I drag a player from the 25 man to the 40 man roster, it tells me the player is already on the 40 man roster.

How do i make a player inactive and just be on the 40 man roster and NOT the 25 man roster?

You can't make a player inactive unless they are injured. That's the DL. Obviously up to 15 players are in the minor leagues, active, unless they are also injured.

Not sure you've given all the info necessary.

Do you not want him off your 25-man active roster? If so, you'll need to move him to one of your minor league teams.

Ok. I just wanted to replace him with another player from my 40 man roster. So, once a player is on the 25 man roster he can't be swapped? He must be either moved to the minors, placed on the DL, or waived?
