Logos for Uniforms

The NYY don't appear to have access to their logos. Not sure if I am missing something in the process.

this is build 41 on Win 11

The default .oi files that come with the game cannot be used to create fictional unis due to licensing restrictions.

So you'd need to add in a logo of your own for this to work, from a mod or from elsewhere.

Thanks, actually I was trying to find the licensed Yankees uniform which does not seem to be available. Maybe it's due to the choice I made to launch the league?

How did you launch the league?

The licensed unis should show up in a new quickstart game or a new standard game that selects current MLB.

So to get this to work we have to go in and rename all the file extensions to .png.

I like to use 1950 settings but I don't like the old 1950 logos that import on game start. In v22 I could change the logo to what I like since all the .oi files all showed up in the logos folder. Now it's a royal pain the butt.

So I had to go change the file extensions on all the mlb team logos.

Is there a quick/easy way to do that or do you have to go into each file individually and change them one by one?

I am having a similar problem, no access to the oi files in fictional league.
To which folder would you add the MLB team logo for the work around?
PS not a Cleveland issue for me.

Just tried a major workaround which also failed (Windows)

I set up an historical league in 23 and tried to change the logos of real MLB teams from 1962 to different logos for those same teams (Balt Orioles etc) you cannot access the logo files to do this in 23 !

So I did the same thing in 22 and it is easily done no problem, you have access to all historic logos in 22

This is an awful change. This is far more limiting than preventing you from using logos on fictional teams... this ONLY allows you to use the logo for the specific year you have set on the Stats & AI screen.

If I'm understanding the thread, one can take the unrestricted ones from OOTP 22, change the file extension to .png, move them to the OOTP23 logos folder ... and then use those instead. To those that have made the adjustments, am I recounting that correctly?

Based on what Lukas had mentioned, and what I am seeing... you will not have access to the oi files in any environment. The game now uses the oi files for autoload only when the league is created, advances seasons, or is force autoloaded by the button on the modify team screen. I have not been able to find anygame starting configurations that allow you to select an oi file.

For the workaround I believe you are referring to... you need to change the extension from .oi to .png. Nothing is added. Where these are located will depend on the type of install you performed. Potentially neither of the below if you used custom options for your install.

Steam default...
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Out of the Park Baseball 23\data\logos

Stand Alone ...
C:\Users\user_name\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 23\logos

Will not need to move any files. For example I saved the following script as a batch file and ran it to change all oi files in the logo folder to png.

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Out of the Park Baseball 23\data\logos

ren *.oi *.png

Takes half a second to run and all logos will be available.

For post above, this clearly only works for the steam default installation... but will work for any folder you want to bulk change extensions for with a little editing.

Can you advise me on the simplest method to change an oi file to a PNG file on a Windows PC?

For a single file, right click and hit rename. Replace ".oi" with ".png"

Tried that won't allow me to change the file extension at all

But I found for Windows you can open a logo file with an ".oi" extension in "Paint" and save as a ".png " file

I did one test case and pasted that png file into the 23 logos file and presto it is now available when I try to modify an historic or fictional team logo.

I have a lot of clicking ahead of me if I can't figure out a way to do this in batch.

1 - Need to find out why it won't let you change extensions. I can't help you, but that is the shortcut to doing this in batch.

2 - The script I used above can be edited to use the path of wherever the logos are stored on your PC. You just use plain old notepad on your pc and paste that script in there. Hit save as, and in that box where it let's you change the name... just use.bat as an extension instead of .txt. Save it anywhere, and double click it to run it. It will change all files witt oi as the extension to have png as the new extension.

This won't work unless you can change file extensions. That, in my opinion, is worth some google time addressing prior to spending an hour resaving files using MS Paint.
