AI images has changed fictional teams in OOTP

used to spend hours creating team logos in photoshop after searching the web for random images to incorporate into it.

Now type a sentence into one of the AI engines and Boom!
But noticed Microsofts keeps doing the same format (image, team, ball)
ChatGPT seems to mix it up more...

and in case you are wondering I had to ask for an "Asian Pirate" for Busan because what it gave me at first didn't seem like a good fit for a Baseball team based in South Korea, haha

Yes, but these do not actually generate anything naturally you still need a human to make them useful in the game. Great for ideation and certainly have improved a lot in the past year or two, but also...almost worse because you get people not even asking for creative ways to contribute to the community, instead just asking folks to convert their AI slop into game usable content.

at least AI will make things, there is almost never anything new on these boards anymore. I honestly for the first time, wonder if there will be a new base game going forward. There is no interest in the game on these boards or on Discord from what I can tell either, the last time I was on there it looked as if the powers that be had folded the mods channel for OOTP with FHM? This game is absolutely on its last legs since there is nothing worth coming to this board for at all anymore. I have not downloaded any mod from here in months, I barely even remember to come by here. So I guess all that to say more power to AI created images because human created images are few and far between an ymore.

Before the MLB & MLBPA license, the forum mods produced the real teams and players and their uniforms and their logos - now all that ships with the games. We used to have to ask for uniforms after an internet search for logos. Then justafan came along and built tools for jerseys, caps and logos. Then eriqjaffe built his great tool so instead of asking for a uniform, you just do it yourself. Sure, some still ask, even me, but for the most part, the tools built for the game are so good you don't have to. And AI just makes it easier to not ask for logos or search the internet for whatever you can find and need tweaked. You just make images until you like it and then put it in the game yourself.

I'm not sure how the power shifting from a group of active modders and being decentralized to empowered individual users to meet their own needs is sign of worry or concern. As for the existing collection of mods, they are still being maintained, added to and improved as the years pass. What of the past do you wish there was more of? What are you here seeking as a mod that is not active?

People spent years essentially doing free labor and people reward them with MORE requests without really anything. It's fun to create stuff for the game, but people who request things have to realize that the game's community has really blown up in the past few years thanks to the MLBPA license and so, you get a ton of people who show up here and basically demand that people who are just fellow gamers make stuff for them without contributing ANYTHING to the community themselves.

it didn't used to be that way, and so...that coupled with all of the AI slop and the incessent requests, it's not a surprise that people are opting out of doing free labor for a game that already has THOUSANDS of logos for pretty much every imaginable scenario.

Folks should be grateful that the user community has stepped up so much over the decades to make this game even more playable than it it already. Nobody owes folks anything, especially not when the attitude in this forum is largely "here is my request for 1000 logos for a league I will only appreciate and that no one else wants to play... can you do it fast? also, I will ask for 1000 modifications each time."

Not you specifically, but like..that's the general pitch of this subforum. I don't even make logos and I don't like it.

I do make them, and I love a unique prompt, but there are very few requests

(Admittedly my parameters- I have to like the idea - and corpus are probably off-putting to some)

I greatly appreciate what the modders do. I find that in recent years they’ve taken on an “upon request” mindset. Most of the big projects like the historical, minors, and international are complete, so diminishing returns is taking hold. I’ve been running a save with 300 real clubs from the early 1900s and have barely had to ask for anything because it is all out there. And more ballparks from that era are still coming out.

I do agree the energy is down this year. OOTP’s rating on Steam is a tad lower, though I don’t think it screams emergency. Some of the base game enhancements didn’t land as well this year, IMO. The calls for back to basics, quality of life, and AI reform are getting louder. But it’s hard to market a new game that way. We’ll see what comes for OOTP 27, but I’m sure I’ll continue to enjoy…

I've been trying for months messaging modders individually for something im working on and most of the logos, I can get. But even with the amazing tools available, the jerseys I make looks like a 5 year old designed it. To those who argue about free labor... I come from the modding community of the 2k WWE series. Absolutely only the bare minimum is available for free and as a result I subscribe to something like 30 different Patreon pages at about an average of 6 to 10 bucks per so im not one to complain about paying for made mods. I usually offer to pay for mods to be made for me for OOTP as well amd have only had one modder even acknowledge my messages..these is also not any issue with expectations since they are all real world teams. Plus most dont exist in the new jersey format
