Learning a new position
If I set a minor league player's position to a position where he does not have a rating, will he try to learn the position in season?
Thanks |

Don't think so. Best way is to put them as a back up and give them every 7th game until they are somewhat decent at the position.

I don't know about while in the minors, but to some extent a player can learn a position (a position that they had no rating at previously) in the majors if played there.

I once had a 1B in my fictional league who was a solid 1B but had a 2B rating of 1/100. (I personally prefer the 1-100 ratings).
I already had an All-Star 1B, so I set his position to 2B and he became my starter there. At the end of his 15-yr career, he had gotten up to a 29 at 2B. Still not that great, but he ended up hitting .393 one year and above .350 a couple of other times. |

How about pitchers?
IIRC, someone posted to this forum (probably about two iterations of the game ago) that a pitcher in the minors developed faster if set at MR rather than SP. I think that poster said he set all minor league pitchers at MR and then switched the starters back to SP when/if he activated them.
