When do you stop going after IFAs?

At what point does the money get ridiculous? I'm chasing after someone, and the bidding is up to 13.8m with a 5m cap. What in the heck am I supposed to do with that?

Easy.

Let them go and giggle next year when a team cant bid against you when there is an IFA that your scout likes as much or better.

If I want the player and can afford it, once im above the cap I dont stop. If its a borderline over the cap player I may backoff and wait, but for elite looking prospects I have gone up above 14m before

once a player value is over the cap, I look real hard at them before I start splashing the cash

Usually I keep my team payroll in the lower half of the league, so every other season I will spend 15-20 million on IFA. If the pool is crappy I push it back another year, but I would rather sign a few solid guys for over the limit every other year then only sign a couple below average potential guys every year.

the best IFA I've seen started as a 1/2 star 140k guy but I've seen a number of $10 million guys end up being solid solid players.
