Can I delete messages??

I'm only one season in and I have over 7000 messages, 4800 from News Around the World. Its actually slowing down the game... I've tried but can't find any way to delete them. Thanks.

I have the following note in my files. Proceed at your own risk.

MESSAGES FILES

IMPORTANT NOTE ON MESSAGES: Deleting messages in-game is not the same as deleting them from the folder. After deleting messages in the game, copies of them remain in this folder. The reason for this is that these messages are the basis for news articles, both for the news log in league transactions and for player profiles. If these are important to keep, DO NOT DELETE MESSAGES IN THIS FOLDER. Also, you will want to keep the "Keep news logs" set as "All." If not, then proceed as described below.

Delete the contents of this folder:
C:\Users\[name]\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 25\saved_games\[gamename].lg\messages
(Also delete messages.dat - the game will create a new file.)
