Anyone manage teams in the minors only?
Been playing this game off and on for a long time but it's been a while. I live in AAA Fresno Grizzlies country and am thinking of managing that team instead of the majors I know that you pretty much can't do any GM moves but manage the lineups and the game but I was wondering if anyone has any experience doing so and if it's worth it?

Mr.Battists does. Here is a little thread about his low A sub par season.

Yep that's me. I am actually really enjoying it. However, the big caveat I guess is that I am very "role play driven". That is, I don't really care all that much about losing.

Sorry got cut short there. My point was, I'm not someone who is desperate to win. I just enjoy the stories and making up fictional history behind these players.
So, it can be pretty frustrating at times, because when you are managing a minor league club, you don't have much say in what players do it. So if your team stinks, they pretty much stink, so it can be a bit of a slog. I do use some limited house rules. For example, once in a blue moon, the AI might make roster moves that leave me without a backup catcher. I have created a separate commissioner account, and I will go in there and "sign" a backup catcher in a case like that.

I, too, enjoy playing to see what develops. I do not need to win all the time. In fact, I like to tear it down every once in awhile and have a rule of no over 30 year old. I play top level only but I am sure the minors would be interesting.

I once did a short dynasty report about managing in the minors. It was fun for awhile but I ended going fictional one day and never looked back.

I should point out, my minor league managing career is fictional...

Yes I saw your posts! thanks for the feedback. Right now I'm trying to figure out what type of ootp universe to start. I'm going to do these three types and figure out which one "sticks":
1. manage a AAA team (Fresno) with real players to start and just accept whatever the Astros GM does going forward. 2. GM/manager of a mexican league team (I once went to a mexican league playoff game and it was the best time I ever had at a baseball game) 3. manage an MLB team using fictional players (I get too anxious using real players and seeing them or their teams not perform up to real life. I tried it and saw the Red Sox trade Pablo Sandoval in 2015. It killed the immersion for me even though I guess it could have happened). |

I tried to manage a double AA squad for a few seasons, but after the second year, I had to quit because I was so frustrated the GM was pulling players up to the MLB to ride the pine.
I guess that's like real life though, which explains why I'm not a minor league manager. |
