Predetermined outcomes?
This is a question that comes from my frustration with The Show games. As popular as The Show is, I know that there have been A LOT of people frustrated also with games seeming to be predetermined. Having big leads and, all of a sudden, their team turns into the Bad News Bears and they lose the game or going into unexplainable losing streaks. Like the AI says "Ok, enough! You had your moment."
Is there any complaints or comments of OOTP being like that?? I havent seen any since I have been on here myself. But thought I would ask because that was one thing that made me want to throw hammers thru windows! ![]()

I don't think so. Ootp has a better sim engine than they do so they don't need to artificially change how your team plays. The new win probability charts show this well. As you get results the chances of you winning go up (like it should). There are always gonna be games where you blow a 10-2 lead in the ninth but it's because of the results not the game artificially balencing the odds.

Yeah CD, games will be blown and leads lost, but, man.....sometimes it was almost like the Show AI was baiting you. "Yeah, that was a good run. But time to bring you back to earth now!"

I think most of us veterans around here are very confident that there's no comeback-code or pre-scripted outcomes.

I think the only thing that is predetermined is that my teams will suck.

The only thing that's pre-determined is I know every single year they'll be somebody that will come in here and accuse the game of being predetermined

There have been plenty of those accusations over the years, all unfounded. Markus has clearly stated that is not the case with OOTP.

As I always say, it would take a lot more work to "script" the games than to just let the natural course play out.

For what it's worth, I've never felt that outcomes in my OOTP games were predetermined, and I began playing back when the retail version was called Season Ticket Baseball. Perhaps others have had a different experience and feel certain that the game AI has an advantage. But I don't feel that way.
That, I think, is one of the major strengths of OOTP. I win, I lose, sometimes my strategies work, sometimes not. Sometimes my relief pitcher will save the day, sometimes not. To me, this game "feels like baseball"--sometimes frustrating, sometimes amazing, but always fun. I have never had the feeling that the AI had an advantage. Unlike a certain soccer management sim...

I used to always think Brian Andersen starts on getaway day were guaranteed Royal losses. My buddy and I tracked them one year and we would have made serious jack in Vegas on that one theory.
So, LOL, it seems if there aren't predetermined losses maybe there should be to reflect reality! Ha! |

To be fair guys, OP did NOT complain about it. He was just asking if anyone had complained about it in the past. So let's not throw shade at him.

In a more perfect world he would have told his friends "No way!" and not brought it up here again.
