How do you evaluate international prospects?
Take last season in my franchise for instance. There were two 5 star kids, but their abilities according to my scout didn't match up with their lofty rating. Usually I wait for the abilities to match the stars before I go all in on big international purchases. Normally I just try to get projectable guys under the cap and lie in wait for the big ones.
Do you just go off of stars or something else? |

I play with ratings turned off, so I trust the scouting reports. After the pool is generated I will scout a prospect(s) again to get a more accurate assessment.
I try to target pitchers with solid or better control and good movement. Batters need not show groundball tendencies. Any quality prospects that are age 18 are sent to rookie ball. |

Most of the big name international prospects are high risk, high reward. I only go for them if my scout and osa likes them a ton and I have more than enough extra money to waste. In most seasons, I just sign cheap guys for lottery ticket prospects and hope they turn into something eventually.

I usually ignore the one or two 80 rated prospects asking for a ton of money, and try and find one or two prospects with high potential in Contact & Stuff that are asking for only 5 figures. I definitely agree with the last poster, I tend to look for more lottery ticket style guys that excel in one area.
