Is the Player Opt Out function not working correctly?

In our online league, when a player has an Opt Out and a Team Option on the same year, the players Opt Out nullifies the Team Option. That doesn't seem right. I would think both parties can exercise their contractual rights, whether it's the same year or not.

Is this a bug or glitch?

Also, does anyone else think player Opt Out clauses were added to some contracts when online leagues switched over to OOTP 17? Or maybe even some Player Options were changed to Opt Out? It seems like this has happened in our league. That would be a glitch.

It seems ok to me. Both parties do exercise their rights in the scenario described. All the team option does is extend the contract, but the opt out terminates whatever is left of the contract, including any extensions.

That seems like how it should work.

As to Opt-Outs being added or player options being changed, that's not a problem I've heard about. Doesn't mean it couldn't have happened though. If you had files from before and after you switched over where this seemed to happen though, I'm sure we'd like to take a look a them.

maybe the setting is default on and it wasn't turned off after the update that implemented it?

just a thought

That is a good question. Does anyone know of any settings that apply to the Player Opt Out function in the game.

BUMP.

Anyone know of any settings in the game that controls Player Opt Out clauses?
Anyone have any other ideas of why they may no work in our online league?

The case in the original post is working as intended. Opt out plus team option is a mutual decision where either could terminate the contract.

No opt-outs should be adding in when updating.

In a recent patch there is a flag which disables player opt-outs completely - that's the only setting at the moment for them.

Yea, I'm not sure how the OP would expect this to work.

If a player has the ability to opt-out of a contract...that makes him a free agent, the Team Option is moot. How would you expect the Team Option to work in this case?

Yes, that is how I understood it too. Both parties should be able to exercise their option. The player can leave, and the team can drop the player too. Either party can walk away from the contract.

Our problem is that when the player decides to stay, the team option goes away somehow. I don't know why, but the TO disappears when the player declines their opt out. The team is stuck keeping the player.

This is an online league.
