Scouting Budget for Minor League Team

I created a fictional AAA league but I still have the option to set a "Major League" budget for scouting. I set a % here for fear that I wouldn't have any accurate scouting reports for my league.

Can I safely set "Major League" scouting to 0%? Or is "Major League" scouting going to be for my league (in which case, what is "Minor League" scouting)?

Thanks.

I' m not 100% sure what you are trying or asking. I assume this is an unaffiliated/independent minor league team.

The references on the table you are talking about affect the quality of the scouting reports you will get. So if you put 0 for major league scouting, the reports you get on players on ML teams will be less accurate. If you can't trade with the majors maybe you don't care, but it might affect free agents released by ML teams too.

Yes, these are independent minor league teams.

I entered commissioner mode and noticed the AI set the Major League scouting must higher than the Minor League scouting, even though each team is a minor league team. I'm not sure if the "Major League" scouting means scouting the current active league (which is AAA) or if it is trying to scout a non-existing Major League.

if you have no mlb teams, Zero out that scouting budget.

the only thing you'd want to check is Free agency. make sure the FA aren't for some reason "MLB free agents" by default due to age or # of years etc.

i would assume that having "mil" selected at top for league and going to list of players for that league would be MiL scouting... but it'd be wise to double check.

not having a MLB league is odd, and odd things may occur due to that fact.

Scouting -- international...

same thing. if you have no international leagues enabled, you can zero this out. created IFA and IAFA players are mlb and mil scouting, respectively.

heh, IFA.. .another check for that zeroed out budget. however, even if these few players are less accurate, you may be able to gain more by dumping those extra millions of $$$ elsewhere for better accuracy... how often do you sign the IFAs for FA? 1-2 players every few years isn't worth millions in scouting.

easy, fast way to test accuracy -- can alter it to be more sophisticated.

turn on 100% accuracy. shortlist the 60+/80 players... or maybe just 70+? whatever.

now, change accuracy and go back to teh list allplayers... where do you see those CAPITALIZED names? if there is more scattering, you know it's less accurate.

when i try new drafting techniques / filters this is how i do it. how do i put hte most CAPITALIZED names near the top for how i am sorting/filtering etc? that's my goal. it gives my a higher % chance of selcting better players for that round/pick. (this is AFTER visibly top-end talent is gone -- even that needs the previous test to show 'when' it's best to switch from potential to filters/views for selcting the player for that round/pick.)

i forgot to say, don't do that 'testing' on a real league, lol. you are looking for trends over long term and that doesn't require the actual players from your league, merely players made by the same settings and rules etc. relevant proportions will be the same in long-term studies.

seed players and first ~3 years of real current day season will be a bit different players than what will be created later. trends of accuracy should be similarly applied based on exclusive forces, but proportions of player quality will change.
