Will there be a 2018 Game Mode added where we take over the team from the AS Break?

Will there be a 2018 Game Mode added where we take over the team from the AS Break or from some other point and then control it into the future?

I'd love it if I could take over a team today, matching the real life MLB and see if I get them in the Playoffs. And then be able to keep it going to infinity.

Has there ever been a mode like this added mid-season?

Last year they did something where they made it so you could play from September and finish out the season. I believe the standings, transactions and MLB (but not MiLB) stats were accurate as of September 1. I believe that was the first time they had ever done that.
