Waivers problem

I am playing in manager only mode in a historical league. I set the options to make historical transfers etc.
The game waived a player. He has now cleared waivers and I cannot play my next days game until he is assigned or released. I cannot assign or release him in manager only mode.

I cannot swap out of manager only mode in the middle of the season.

Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

Oh really? Well, if you're not able to change from manager to GM mode in the middle of a season, you definitely can activate Commissioner Mode which will allow you to do any damn thing you want with the organization & even the league rules.
