If I purchase ootp on a PC and later decide to switch to a mac.... can I redownload the game or do I need to separately purchase it.

You can install the game on 2 separate machines and one can be PC and the other can be a Mac. That's normally what I do. I have it installed on my gaming PC and then on my MacBook when I want to travel.

No. If you bought it directly from OOTP you could still use that key to install on 2 separate machines at the same time.

Steam would give you the same option but I always like buying directly from them.
