Confused about purchasing points

Been playing for a few months now.
I have a lot of success in the lower levels, but once I get kicked to Silver my 90-plus team just can't compete.
So I decided to purchase points, never had done it, I figured once I purchases them, they would kick them to my account.
Didn't realize there was a purchase key involved.
I think I bought about 22,000 in points, but once I got the key thing figured out it credited me with 1,000.
Is there any way I can get those 20,000-plus points back I have paid for since I didn't download the key.
