A few random real players in fictional league
Has anyone ever seen this before?
I am creating a purely fictional league, with purely fictional players, leagues, and teams. I set it up and ran a 20 year (2000-2019) sim last night as a test. When I checked it this morning, I found in the league history that a number (looks like 18) of 19th century players were pulled in at the inaugural draft. I noticed it in the records first: So I clicked in to Matt Kilroy and it's the historical player: Looking at his profile, it has his historical stats, with his date of birth in 1998. It let him start playing in my league in 2000 at the age of 1 ![]() I checked both the league settings and the template to make sure historical players should not have imported: It looks like it added 18 players into the inaugural draft: George Bradley Oyster Burns Bert Cunningham Jack A Farrell Chris Fulmer Walt Goldsby Bill Greenwood Mike J Griffin John Harkins Matt Kilroy Jack K O'Brien John Peltz Blondie Purcell Billy Shindle Phenomenal Smith Joe Sommer Sam Trott Tommy Tucker I've created several more test leagues from this template and it does the same thing each time. ![]() Any experience with this?

Does adding an extra round to the draft fix this issue? First thing that comes to mind is maybe you don’t have enough players for the inaugural draft and the game is compensating by importing 18 historical players.

The 18 historical players are already in the draft pool when you first create the league.
I wasn't aware you could add rounds to the inaugural draft? Where would you do that? I thought the inaugural was created off of the number of teams in your league+farm system. If it's something you do after you create the league, then the 19th century players are already in the pool. Finally, why would the game pull historical players into a fictional league. If it needed more players, it could just create them. And if it did, why would it pull players from the 1880's into a league starting in 2000? My assumption is that this is a bug, but before I reported it, I wanted to post here and see if it's something that's been encountered before, and if there's some obscure setting or other interaction that could cause it.

Game Settings > League Settings > Rules
On the right side of the page about half-way down you will see: Amateur Draft Number of Rounds Generate Players for X Rounds For the Generate Palyers for X Rounds I usually add 3 additional rounds. If Amateur Draft Number of Rounds is 30, I will make the Generate Players for X Rounds 33. |

I've added fictional players to real to play out long term sims. I find it more challenging when you realize that you can't coast on your knowledge of history. It's also fun as heck when you see one of the Fic's go HOF.
