OOTP Reveal
It would have been more interesting to watch Markus play the piano that was beside him. Maybe he could have played/sang, “Take me out to the ball game” and put it in OOTP so it would play every time we opened the game.
If you saw the trailer from last week, you saw more than was shown last night. I guess if you are really into pants you might be more excited after hearing Markus talk about them I am a long time player and have already pre ordered and I am sure I will be happy with 23. They did mention a new simulation engine, online commissioners can have an assistant, catcher framing and a couple other features that were also mentioned in last weeks video but no specifics. Disappointed there were no screenshots or a 15 second video of 3d play. Anyway, I am sure it will be a great game but I should have skipped the reveal video. The new game seems like more of an in season update than a new release. Let’s call it 22.5.

I'm waiting to see how the rewrite of the simulation engine plays out and some more details on that. If the recoding was significant it might be a little rocky in the early days. I agree that the reveal was rather dull and am looking forward to more screenshots and detailed info.

Many ask every year for more improvements under the hood. Or fix what is already there. They do it and get the old "where are the improvements?" comments. Go figure.

However, I also agree with those that are getting restless at this point regarding the lack of information on exactly what has been updated/improved (aside from generalizations). While it is nice to hear from Markus anytime we can, I'm not sure exactly what the goal of that interview was. Particularly at a time when you have a user base starved for some information about the upcoming release. Last edited by Rain King; 04-15-2022 at 10:24 AM. |

Seeing and listening to Markus talk about the features and what he likes the most is interesting to me. There was a lot of information there. It doesn’t have to be for everybody. There are, after all, plenty of videos on YouTube of kids opening hatchimals

I pre-order every year sight unseen. Some versions have been a little disappointing with how little meat was in them but most I've been very happy with, So I've learned to withhold judgement until I've played the new game for a few weeks. I was really hoping for more content added to the stadium builder tool. I haven't specifically heard whether we are getting any but I figure that might be under the "much more" category.
They seem to really be happy about the in game tutorials. They have been talking that up. Personally I could not possibly care less about that and will disable all of that within seconds of launching the game. As for the rest.... we'll see. Markus & Team have a great track record and usually deliver a great product. |

Yeah. I don’t think they thought in-game tutorials would be the thing that long time users would swoon over. It’s obvious they are excited about it for the prospects of finding and keeping new customers with an easier way to learn to play. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

However.... since they are also "on demand" From the description I do think it will be a nice addition and I think I will use it from time to time. Haven't played much historical? Here's some help. Find what you need in the OOTP manual but the description, even to long time players, can be a bit foggy. Here's some help. For new users and continued growth of the game I think it is probably a huge addition. More users, more funds for development leading to more\better features. Unlike most professional sports leagues today Markus seems to be thinking long term. Good for him.

Sure they could have shown some 3d and I would have liked that. Maybe you see a runner take out the ss with a slide? Cool. But seeing something like that for the first time while playing out a game, I think, will be a bigger "wow" moment for me. No idea how he could\would describe the new simulation engine? I think it's something one would have to experience. |

The thing about the new simulation engine for me is that, if I never thought there was a problem with it because I never get that micro-obsessive about the stats, then I won’t notice any improvement. But that’s fine. I trust it will lead to a better overall experience Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If the video was meant for just those of us that have played the game, it was sort of ok. Yes, it is nice to see /hear Markus but that is not why I watch a reveal video.
If this video was meant to reveal some of the features of a great game to possible new players, IMO it could have been much better. |

For some reason though, just not as excited about this year's release. Probably because I don't play out my games, although I did try that in one of my universe's, but I do tend to get restless, and although I've slowed down with my sim time, I still want to get to the player draft a bit quicker, trade deadline, etc. It's certainly not just about me, but I would like to see things added, like more interaction with the player during the season. I am spoiled by FM when it comes to things like that, among others, like applying for job openings, which they do an excellent job with. I will certainly purchase 23, but generally wait until later, usually after a few patches, as OOTP22 still gives me much enjoyment. Last edited by progen; 04-15-2022 at 01:03 PM. |

In every release there are hidden gems.
Can't wait to see what they are. |
