Bizarre Spring Training Subs

Does anyone have any idea why my team, with 5 Catcher Spring invites, is more than 50% of the time subbing in a Pitcher as my Catcher?

He is no longer a 2 way player
Not on a depth chart
And hasn't played Catcher in over a season.

I don't have a clear answer for you, but I suspect that the player's past history as a catcher is causing this, and maybe the AI is trying to re-develop him back into a catcher.

One thing you could try is to go into the player's profile and click the Strategy tab, and then set the player's Force Role for the pitching staff to SP, RP or CL. If the player is being forced into a specific role on the pitching staff, then maybe this will stop the AI from inserting the player as a substitution.

Otherwise, if this doesn't fix things, here is a quick question. Are you playing your game in commissioner mode? If so, you can use the Editor tab in the player profile to review the player's defensive ratings and position experience on the bottom right. Set all of the catcher-related ratings at 0, including for experience. That might stop the AI from using the player at catcher, but I can't guarantee success. I've never seen this issue.

It's an online league so that's not really an option for me at the moment.
I can try the force start. he's already the teams SP #1 so forcing it would still just put him in the #1 slot.

I just hope it doesn't persist into the season.

Sent some of those Catchers down...
Now the dude started a ST game lol.

Im about to cut him (he had 22 wins last year but if he's stuck in some bad data, hes gonna get the boot)
