Irony? (New ratings system)
So the more I look at the new ratings system, the more I like it. I like that it seems to give more weight to Contact and a bit less to Eye. I always felt like Eye was rated a bit too highly anyway, so I am pleased with that aspect.
But there is some irony in it. I've had the same fictional league going for almost two decades of gameplay and I've seen many guys come and go. One guy that I always liked was this catcher. He hit the ball really well for a catcher (always batted above .300), but was rated low most seasons (in the 40s) because of his low POW and EYE (my league has above average power as well. He didn't fit the scheme of my team, so I didn't want him myself, but I thought it always stunk that he didn't get the respect I thought he deserved. Many seasons he was a borderline starter or bench guy. Now the new ratings come out when he's 36 and all of the sudden, he's rated as high as he's ever been and is a top five Catcher in the league. Where was his respect in his peak years?!?
