The A's

Is anyone else really curious how OOTP will handle the A's next year (and moving forward in terms of in-game evolution)? Will the team be based in a minor league stadium in the game next year? Will they eventually program in a new stadium? Do they just become the Las Vegas A's now or do we pretend they're still in Oakland until they actually move?

I know the IRL situation is far from settled, but we at least know what is planned from here.

Considering the game has an MLB License, it's good bet the A's will resemble exactly what they are/do irl. So the Stadium will likely get added and whatever they call them in MLB will be reflected in the game, ie: Sacramento A's? Who knows, your guess is as good as mine.

Well, it's been stated that they will only be known as the Athletics or the A's with no city name affiliation. That can be done in OOTP already, but how is that going to mess with uniform files and the such, that will be interesting. Of course the OOTP team probably has already made a OOTP version of the Sacramento River Cats stadium for 26. (That's only a guess but since it does take time to make stadiums I would not doubt it has been worked on)

Now the A's did file for Sacramento A's and Sacramento Athletics trademarks so that no one can make unlicensed uniforms or merch, but they will not have a city affiliation. They did say they will honor Sacramento through other means. Whatever they will be only the A's head office knows right now.

With the A's moving to a MiLB stadium, hopefully it gave OOTP reason to make 3d renderings of ALL MiLB stadiums.

FWIW there's already a 3D model of Sutter Health Park (actually for all of AAA) available.

Great job!
Can you tell me how the ballpark effects are calculated? Are they season by season or overall averages for a period of years? Thanks.

I'm not sure OOTP even models the stadiums anymore. It seems to me they are porting over the stadiums in MLB 9 Innings.

My plan is to designate them as the Las Vegas A's. It would be great to have a possible model of their new stadium; although that is still only in the concept stage and may never happen without funding. Failing that, they will stay the Oakland A's in my sims. Or, in the alternative, return to Philadelphia.

Thanks! I just put the dimensions into OOTP and had it calculate the effects.

When importing stadiums you built, should the user keep the built in ballpark effects or have the game recalculate them for a give season for maximum realism? Thanks

If you're talking about using a 3D model for a park the game already includes I'd just stick with OOTP's calculations, the model is just cosmetic.

If it's for a fictional stadium, the .prk files included with the parks already use factors calculated by the game.

On a somewhat related note: if I have a .rar file of a ballpark, what do I do to get it into the game and make sure it's used during the appropriate years? Is it just a simple matter of importing it somehow?

If you go to Settings from the Start page, go to Troubleshooting when the pop-up appears, click "go to files with customizable data" and the navigate to the /ballpark folder, that's where it goes. EXCEPT, you don't want to put the .rar version of the folder in there. You want to unzip that .rar (it's essentially like a .zip file) and once unzipped, put THAT plain old stadium folder in the /ballparks folder. If the naming in the game (and years) align, it should find it.

That's been my experience but those like eriq who makes parks, can check me on the details.

Is this process the same for just adding additional stadiums to the game without assigning them to a team? I have a couple that will be used in future years, but they are not in effect yet.
