Back in the day, I think in the 40's or 50's, one specific team (I forget who) used to keep their outfield fence on wheels and would move it in or out depending on which team they were playing. When the Yankees would come to town with all their power, they would find the fences 30 feet deeper than some other teams, for example.
There technically was no rule against it at the time, but the commissioner put a halt to it. |
