auto-promoting IAFA players

In my online league we just simulated to the start of Spring Training and the game/AI auto-promoted international players for various teams in the league.

The issue with this, is that our Rookie League has an age minimum of 17, and the AI tried to promoted 16yr-olds, so now they are all sitting in the DFA lists waiting for a place to go.

Is there a way to turn off the auto-promote feature for the international complex? Or better yet, is there a way to get the game/AI to adhere to the age minimums applied in the settings?

Something sounds off here. The AI doesn't promote International Complex players until the end of the year they turn 18.

You say "various teams" in your league. Was it only some teams and not all this happened to? If so, I'd look further into that.

Did some owners possibly place these players on the 40 man roster? If that's the case, they would have been auto promoted to the active roster for ST.

Just guessing here really, because the AI should not promote 16 yr old kids from the Int Complex.

it was a handful of the teams, not all of them. in the player profile history pages, the circumstances varied. all of them were "promoted from the IC" on the same date. some were recent IAFA signings, some were discoveries as recent as a few days prior but others had been in the IC for half a year or so. none of them are on the 40-man roster though.

the IC has a 40 player maximum, but none of these teams were at that limit. that was the first thing that I thought it might be. of the 24 teams in the league, this happened to 4 of the teams.

Not sure what else it could be. Seems odd it was only some teams it happened to.

Hopefully someone else sees this and has an idea.

Sorry can't be of more help.

you are trying to swim upriver.

the game doesn't work that way, it might be best to not fight it on a nuance of minimum age of rookie leage. If you don't set that, you will very, very rarely see a 17 year old in that league that isn't run by a human. In my experience the prospects of any value have better probability of developing the sooner you get them into the real MiL and at least approaching 18 that year, but the "AI" won't do that.

you can further ensure this doesn't happen by monitoring how the 40-man cap plays out.. usually players are fairly old by the time the AI moves them on to rookie leagues. if it is happening, reduce scouting discoveries or IAFA a bit. that will allow them to simmer longer before beign forced out... this should not be necessary with default settings.

sometimes minimums cause AI behaviour too, because this is odd to be moving up such young players unless there was a specific lacking of a particular position etc... obvious cause/effect reasons if you looked into it.

a minimum age on lowest rookie league doesn't really do much. Take a copy of your league, can zoom out and watch the minors sorting by age each year and i doubt you see many 17 year olds let alone 16.

minor league age and service time rules are very easy to set in a way that onyl screws things up despite best intentions. Anytime you try to instute age or service time rules, it's best to zoom out 10-12 years and see how that impacts flow of players -- any bottlenecks? any problems like 16 year olds being promoted, etc.... Don't try to shove a square peg through a round hole. work around how the game works because trying to force it to do something it may not be built to do won't end well. trial and error and move on from the error.

can make a template of league and test on the side.. or make a duplicate of the .lg folder and rename it something else to play with... can refill with fictional players if you want to go through that extra step. more than one way to make a tester league with exact same rules/settings... exact players is irrelevant.

it's not about the age restrictions per se. the concern and basis for my question was why the AI was even promoting players if the managers in the online league don't have the AI controlling player promotions.

I let my AGM handle it. I get an email listing who was promoted.
