Not entirely satisfied with this one. I wanted to find a silhouette of Christy Mathewson to use as the centerpiece, but I could not find one. I used Bucknell's colors. More to come from Lewisburg...

I really like the Bucknell-inspired color scheme. The Bucknell-Matty angle is the only reason why I picked Lewisburg for the league. It's a good bit smaller than the other KL cities, but I enjoy visiting there, and as you might have guessed from my nickname, I'm a big Christy Mathewson fan (if it's possible to be a fan of a player who died 40 years before you were born).
That dates back to when I found out that my grandfather had seen him pitch when he was about my age. I guess I was about eight years old at the time. When I found out Matty's name was Christopher, like mine, that made it even cooler. ![]() Great work as usual, Knuckler.

Down to three:
Bethlehem Steelers Reading Coal Heavers Altoona Mountaineers Any ideas for a logo or symbol that would stay within the 60s era? |

I keep seeing a railroad-inspired logo for Reading.
For the Mountaineers, maybe a Davy Crockett-like character, and I seem to think dark green for a team color. The Steelers is the one that stumps me.

Could just be based on some steel workers....
The Bethlehem Steel Corporation (1857-2003), based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, once was the second largest steel producer in the United States (after Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based US Steel). But following its 2001 bankruptcy, the company was dissolved and the remaining assets sold to International Steel Group in 2003. In 2005, ISG merged with Mittal Steel, ending U.S. ownership of the assets of Bethlehem Steel. During its life, Bethlehem Steel also was one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the world and was one of the most powerful symbols of American manufacturing leadership. Bethlehem Steel's demise often is cited as one of the most prominent examples of the U.S. economy's transition away from industrial manufacturing and its inability to compete with cheap foreign labor |

I hope this will work for both the nickname and the era:

Knuck,
just had an idea for the alternate Reading logo. If you could make the smoke into puffs of smoke baseballs that might add to the logo appearance? Just a thought. dcc

Maybe try the Gettsyburg Cannons in orange/black/white combo? That's how I always envision them.

It's been a while since I checked this thread, and it looks like all the teams have logos now except the Altoona Mountaineers. Plus, there's a franchise shift coming up...so if someone could develop a logo for the Pottsville Brewers, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!!

Great job, Knuckler. You capture a late 60's feel very well with this one.
Now I'm all set. Thanks to everyone who helped me out here. You'll see your masterpieces featured in my Keystone League dynasty from now on.

I know you already got a Mountaineers logo made, but I've been looking for a decent logo since you mentioned you wanted a guy in a Davy Crockett style cap. So I figured I would post this anyways.
